2012 Review

Hello Blogging Friends!

I started  blogging in October of 2010.  Through this experience, I have had so much fun sharing and growing in paper crafting.  I want to thank all my readers and followers for your support and words of encouragement!

I made some goals on 1/1/12 and I wanted to check back to see how I did.  So here are the goals I posted:

1.  Make sure to update my blog at least twice a week, more if possible.

2.  Make 50 cards.

3.  Make 72 scrapbook layouts this year.  Hopefully this will be no issues, as I do a book for my father each year for father's day.  Speaking of that, I need to get busy!!!

4.  At least 5 altered items.  I have so much fun creating something different to enjoy.

5.  Participate in at least 20 challenges to help expand my skills and grow.

6.  I would like to be accepted to a Design Team that fits with my style.

7.  I want to take the intermediate Copic class and continue to learn more about all the fun things you can do with these markers.

Well, I am proud to say that I have managed to meet all my goals.  Today's post will be number 104 for this year, that averages out to two posts a week.  Boy, just squeaked by on that one!  I can say this year I have seen so much growth in my abilities.  I love to sit down in my craft room with the music on and escape while coloring or creating.  Most weeks, Sunday afternoons are my time time while my husband sleeps.

To wrap up the year, I have added pictures of one card per month that I have created.  Can you see growth?  I sure can.  It is amazing to look back and see what a year can do.  I look forward to another year of fun with all of you!

December Guest Design Team - Loves Rubber Stamps

Good Morning Blogging Friends,

First, I want to wish all of my crafty friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  I do appreciate all of your support and kind comments this year.  I hope you enjoy the holidays with your families and friends!

Today I am back with my last challenge as a Guest Design Team Member for Loves Rubberstamps Challenges.  The sponsor this week for Loves Rubberstamps is Saturated Canary.  The challenge is New Year Celebrations!

I have to admit this one was a stretch for me.  I have never sent a New Years card, but I am happy with the outcome.  I stuck with the more elegant colors black and silver and gave the image a pop of blue and sparkles.  The image is Double Take by Saturated Canary.  Isn't she gorgeous?  What fun she was to color with my copics!  I gave her some extra sparkle with stickles and gems.  The top of the card is embellished with Recollections gems and the edges is a Martha Stewart punch.  The image itself is cut out with a spellbinders die.

Copics used:
Dress:  B32, B34, B37
Skin:  E000, E11, E00, BV0000, R20
Hair:  E50, E53, E57
Eyes:  BG49

Watercolor Flowers

Good Morning Friends!

Just a quick card for today.  I have some exciting news!!! I have been selected to be part of the Party Time Tuesday Design Team starting in January!  I am really looking forward to the challenge.  Stop by and play along with us.

This one is just a quick and simple one that I made as part of my husband's grandmothers Christmas Gift.  I usually make her some different cards to send out thru the year.  She loves them and it saves her some time and money for the year.

I started this one with a red cardstock base.  I used water color paper and distress markers for the image.  The image is by Stampers Anonymous.  I colored the stamp with my markers and spritzed with water.  Then stamped on the water color paper.  I added some more water to the extra ink on the stamp to stamp around the edges.  I then heated the image to set it and added some distress ink around the edges of the card.  It is finished with a background layer, some ribbon and pearls.

Just a closer look at the stamped image.

I hope you enjoyed your stop today.  Have a fantastic weekend and Happy Holidays to you!

Thank you for stopping by!
Blessings until next time....

PJ Girls Secret Sister Swap Reveal!

Hello Friends!

I have a fun post today with a disclaimer... I did not create any of this you see below.  At the very end, I will tell you who made all of these adorable gifts.  We did a secret sister swap in our PJ Girls group over at SCS.  It was very difficult to leave a box unopened that I received in the mail.  But I had to wait until Sunday and I finally opened it.  I was thrilled with all the fun stuff inside.  So let's get to it....

Here is what the box looked like when I opened it.

Here are the contents all pulled out and stacked together.

My SS made this adorable card and I absolutely love it!  Isn't it the cutest?

As part of the swap, we were to make something for our SS. So she made me this adorable box with chocolates and candies.  YUM!!  I was also excited by the tulle and ribbon - recycle!!!

Here is the back side of the box.

And the unwrapped box with a little chocolate sitting in front!  Chocolate is my favorite, so I am sure these won't last long!

 And another goodie box!

This is what was inside the second box.  Some pearls, ribbon and a Sarah Kay Stamp.  I love Sarah Kay!  I will be inking this up very soon.  I actually have a good idea for her!

Another part of the swap was to send something from our stash that we could spare to share.  So it is a bunch of fibers!  Ohh La La!  These will be lots of fun.  There are so many pretty colors and textures!

Well, have you guessed who my SS is yet?  Yeap probably because I put her name on the things that were made, it is Pam.  She is so generous to share all these goodies with me.  I can't wait to play with them!   Thank you Pam!

I am off to check out the other PJ Girls to see what goodies they received!

Have a great day!
Blessings until next time...

{PIN}spirational Challenge # 38

Hello Friends!

I have two posts for you today so make sure you scroll down to see the second post.

Well, you ask what the {PIN}spirational challenges are?  Each week the challenge is to look at a picture and make a creation inspired by the picture.  So this week the image is snowmen in a glass dish.  Ummmm, so many possibilities with this cute image!

The sponsor this week is Dilly Beans.

Dilly Beans was kind enough to share some digi images with us to create this week.  I picked the two snowmen with a birdhouse.  I colored them up with my copics and matted him using Spellbinders postage stamp die.  I am not sure who the background paper is by, it  was found in my stash. I added some perfect pearls and Tim Holtz distress ink around the image to add some color and texture.  The snowflake is cut out of a sizzix waffer thin die and I attached it with a little brad.  The card is actually a gate fold card and the snowflake is used to hold down the image and keep the card closed.

Copics used:
 Snowmen:  B60, W1, 0
Scarfs:  BG72, BG75, BG78
Hearts:  W5, R59
Birdseed:  E30, E31, E35
Bird House:  E71, E74, E77, W1, W3, W5
Hat:  W3, W5, W7
Noses:  YR12, YR15, YR18

The inside I used MME paper and cardstock.  I embossed the snowman using white embossing powder.  The snowman image is by Stampers Anonymous.   The sentiment is by Brother And Sister Designs.

Ok, it is your turn.  Take another look at the  picture and head over to {PIN}spirational Challenges to play along with us.

We will be taking a short break after this challenge, but will be back with more fun on January 8 with a new challenge!

Loves Rubber Stamps December GDT - Merry Christmas or Happy Chanuka

Good Morning Blogging Friends,

Today I am back with another challenge as a Guest Design Team Member for Loves Rubberstamps Challenges.  The sponsor this week for Loves Rubberstamps is Sweet n' Sassy.

Ok, let's get to the challenge, it is Merry Christmas or Happy Chanukah!

I wanted to do something a little bit different than a normal Christmas card for this challenge.  I have been wanting to try a Star Fold Card for some time and I thought this would be great for this challenge. You can find the tutorial here for the Star Fold Card.  It is actually very simple!  So I picked out some double sided Christmas Basic Grey paper from my stash and started scoring and folding.  I choose the Cocoa's Gift image from Sweet 'N Sassy stamps.  He is perfect popping out of the box since you have to also unwrap the card to get into it!  I colored the image with my copics on cryogen paper.  I used red cardstock cut out with Spellbinders Floral Doily Motifs dies to put behind the image.

I then attached the image to one side of my card (you can see this better below).  I thought it still looked a little plain so I decided to embellish it a bit more.  I used pearls on the tips of the star and stamped the Merry Christmas image by Magnolia on a circle.  I added a star charm to the circle and hung it from the card with twine.  It was still not just right, so I colored some white ribbon with my G24 copic to match and tied a bow on the corner of it.

Copics used:
Box:  G20, G21, G24, G28
Ribbon:  R24, R29, E07
Mouse: E30, E31, E35
Ears:  R00, R21, R22

For the inside of the card, I simply stamped the sentiment by Stampabilities (Merry Christmas Always). You can see how the image is glued to only one side of the card.

Let it Snow - Loves Rubber Stamps GDT

Good Morning Blogging Friends,

Today I am back with another challenge as a Guest Design Team Member for Loves Rubberstamps Challenges.  The sponsor this week for Loves Rubberstamps is Kenny K.

Ok, let's get to the challenge, it is Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow! - Create a Winter Scene with a Snow feature.   This one stumped me for a while.  I think I was just thinking way to hard.  Then I decided to use Kenny K's Ice Skate Kate.  I have never colored an image with this type of hair, so it was a new challenge for me.  I had to keep repeating mountains are light, valleys are dark.

I can't tell you the name of the paper I choose.  I dug it out of that large stash file I have.  I really need to clean it out, but that is another story for another time.  I colored the image on cryogen with my copics.  To help create the winter scene, I  used glossy accents under Kate's feet to give the illusion of ice.  Then I used emboss resist for the snowflakes to add some extra scene.  I also embossed snowflakes on some of the background paper.  I used pumice stone distress ink to ink around the edge of the image to give it a night time feel.  I cut the entire image out with a spellbinders die.  To finish the card, I used some charms, ribbon and a tag with  "Let it Snow" embossed on the front.  The sentiment was put together with words by Sent my Cards.

Copics used:
Pants/Shirt/Hairband:  RV91, RV93, RV95, RV99, C0, C3
Skates:  E50, E53, E55, C0, C3, C5
Skin:  E000, E00, E11, E13, R20
Hair:  E31, E35, E57, E59

For the inside of the card, I used matching purple paper from the front, but I stamped snowflakes around the edges with victorian velvet distress ink.  The snowflakes are by Stampers Anonymous.  I also cut out some white card stock with the matching spellbinders die from the front and inked it with more snowflakes.  The inside sentiment is by Stampabilities.

{PIN}spirational Challenge #37

Hello Friends!

I have two posts for you today so make sure you scroll down to see the second post.

It's Tuesday again!  That means another {PIN}spirational Challenge!  Are you ready?  Here is the inspiration.

The sponsor this week is The Digi Garden.

I took from this picture the ugly Christmas sweater.  So I tried to find some paper that had some pattern that you would not want to wear on your clothes.  The paper is by MME, Flair Designs and Paper Studios.  The image is colored on cryogen paper with copics.  I cut out the image with a spellbinders die and inked it with Tim Holtz distress ink (antique photo).  I finished off the card with ric rack ribbon, a bow and a Paper Inspirations stamp (Dec 25).  I put some burgundy stickles around the stamped image to add to the tackiness of that ugly sweater.

Copics used:
Skin:  E000, E00, E11, E13, R20
Pants:  E50, E53, E55
Shirt & Hat:  G20, G21, G24, G28, R22, R24, R29, E07
Shoes & Scarf:  G20, G21, G24, G28

The inside paper is by MME,  I made the tag with aged mahogany distress ink and some more stickles. The sentiment is by Stampabilites, In the Eyes of Children.

Ok, it is your turn.  Take another look at the  picture and head over to {PIN}spirational Challenges to play along with us.  The challenge closes Monday December 17.

I would also like to enter this in the following challenges:
