Smash! Loves Rubberstamps Weekly Challenge!

Good Morning!
It is Tuesday morning once again, so that means it is time for another challenge at Loves Rubberstamps.  This week is everyone's favorite challenge.... Anything Goes!

I have had this idea for quiet some time and I finally sat down to bring it to life.  We are planning to build a new home next year and are starting to gather ideas and finalize our floor plan.  So I wanted to make a smash book to add our ideas in when we find something.  I used chipboard as the cover and it is 8.5 x 11.  I used  My Minds Eye Paper  for the background and embellished it with a sewing measuring tape, washi tape, button, key and hole, tags and some metal embellishments.  The image is Kenny K - Home Improvement.  I can tell you, I don't look anything like her, but I thought the image was perfect for a Home Smash book.  lol...Of course, I gave her a pink drill because every lady needs a pink one!  I bound it with a Bind it All.

The inside is made out of file folders that have been cut down to fit into the chipboard.  I labeled them for each room and added some extra tags and pages in between to allow more space.  You can see in this one, it is the Main Bathroom.  I have my colors picked and I want to use a dresser as a sink.  So I have printed a picture of what I want.  I just staple the pictures in so it is easy peasy!

Kenny K generously provided the design team with beautiful images to use.  So I choose to use Sweet Melissa.  She is just darling and sweet!  I colored her with copic markers and fussy cut her out so that she could sit in this cute window made of Simple Stories - Fabulous papers.  I then stitched around the edges and added some lace, ribbon and my METAL embellishments!

I have always loved this image and Laura now has it in the store (Make it Crafty - Christmas Eve Countdown).  I decided to bite the bullet and try to color him up.  He is not actually as hard as you might think.  This fun little santa is illustrated very well.  After I colored him up, I thought it would be fun to put him on an Upright Z fold style card.

Loves Rubberstamps Masculine Challenge

Today I am back with another challenge from Loves Rubbertamps!  This week we want to see your Masculine creations!

Our fabulous sponsor this week, The Paper Shelter, provided us some fun images to use.  I have chosen  The Happy Times.  He is printed on cryogen and colored with copics.  I used a Spellbinders Large Deckled Rectangle to cut out the image.  The edges are all inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  The background papers are by Simple Stories, Awesome collection.  I distressed all edges and bent back some for a peak a boo edge.

Loves Rubberstamps - For the Love of Chocolate

Hello Blogging Friends!

Have we got a challenge for you over at Loves Rubberstamps today!  I have always loved chocolate.  In fact, chocolate chip cookies with ice cream is my absolute favorite.  So what a better challenge than "For the Love of Chocolate".  Meljen's Designs is our fabulous sponsor this week!

I had so much fun creating this card and love how it turned out.  I used Magnolia, Tilda with a Love Cake, as the image.  It is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on cryogen paper.  This little cutie is colored with copics.  After she was colored, I distressed the edges and added some Tim Holtz Walnut Stain distress ink around the edges.  I matted her on some burgundy card stock that was also distressed.  The background papers are by Simple Stories Awesome collection and the Echo Park This and That collection.  I wanted a bit of brown on cream, so I used a piece of cream cardstock with a Stampabilities paisley background stamp with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain distress ink and stamped the background.  I then used the Inkssentials Ink Blending Tool & Foam to darken the cream color a bit with some more distress ink.  I used more of the Krylex bandage roll in the background.  After adding the heart (more info to follow), I added a Tim Holtz  metal embellishment tied with The Pink Petal ribbon.



 Just a closer look at the heart.  It is distressed and inked with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain distress ink.  I frayed some lace and added some more ink.  Placed some burlap behind the brad and added a pin.

The inside is finished with matching Simple Stories papers from the front of the card.  I used the blue hounds tooth paper as a negative where the heart was cut out and set the sentiment behind it.  The sentiment is by xxxxxxx.  I added some lace that the edges are frayed and I used some Tim Holtz Walnut Stain distress ink to dirty up the lace a bit.  It is finished with a button and twine.  All edges have been distressed.

Enjoy the Journey!

Good Morning!

I made this card for my dad's birthday.  I wanted it to look a bit rustic so I used the rusted enamel technique with my distress inks and embossing powders.  Tim Holtz teaches this in his Creative Chemistry 101 online class.

First you cover the background in distress ink.  I used my greens.  Then you cover the entire paper with embossing ink and then embossing powder.  Now before you heat the embossing powder, you pick up the paper and flick it with your fingers on the back side.  This causes some of the ink to fall off the paper leaving little "pits" in the embossing.  Then you go over the paper with your brown distress inks.  That leaves it to look like the paper background is a bit rusty.

So after all that, I tore off the edges and stamped this little car on there to make it a bit manly for my dad. I did use some white distress stain to lightly put the Enjoy the Journey image on the background paper.  I finished him off with the metal embellishment tied with twine.  I wrapped the twine behind the card and left it a bit loose to give it more of an old feel.

This is the inside of the card.  Very simple with another Tim Holtz embellishment.

Imagine!

Hello Friends!

I have a card for a very special man today!  Father's Day is this weekend and my husband requested a card for his dad.  He is so full of life and loves to buy old things that will someday look new again.  He just needs to find that time to make all those things new again.  Maybe in retirement, huh!

He has several tractors and a few cars that are pretty rusty.  He just loves to tinker with them.  So when my husband asked, I immediately thought of an old rusty tractor.  I found this Just Inked digital image.  My next step was to find some pictures of old tractors so I could see how they rust.  Mission accomplished!

I colored my image with copics and cut it out with a spellbinders labels 20 die.  I puts some post it notes in the sky for clouds and airbrushed blue for the sky.  I then removed the post it notes and airbrushed again with B000 to soften the clouds a bit.

The paper is by The Paper Studio, the old barn siding fits perfect with a tractor!  I distressed the edges to give it more of an old look.  The sentiment is stamped on chipboard with a Stampavive, Tina Wenke image.  The sprockets are by the man, Tim Holtz.  Yeap, hubby makes fun of me for my love of Tim. lol.

The inside caption I typed up on the computer.  Used the same spellbinders labels 20 as the front and added another sprocket.  The sentiment was printed on white cardstock and airbrushed with E33 to soften it a bit.
