New Year's Resolutions - Loves Rubberstamps Challenge

Good Morning!

Well we have come to the end of yet another year.  Where does time go?  They say as you get older, time flies faster…. I am really beginning to believe that.  Before I get into today's post, I just want to say  a BIG THANK YOU to all my followers for your support this year.  I hope that you have a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2014!

Ok, today I am back with our final challenge for 2013 for Loves Rubberstamps.  We want to see and hear all about "New Year's Resolutions".  So come on over and share your creation with us.

Our fabulous sponsor this week is:

I am not sure what all this year will hold for me and my family, but what I do know it will be a busy year with lots of fun adventure.  So just one of my New Year's Resolutions is to stay organized to cut down on stress.  So I chose to focus on my coupon organization for this challenge.   It does take some time to organize coupons and look at ads, but I can tell you since June I have captured over $4,600 in savings with coupons, rebates and sales (yes, I am tracking everything ;).  Best yet, I have cut our grocery bill in 1/2 and our shelves are reasonably stocked.  Items that are stocked well, I will not buy until I begin to run low again.

Ok, so how does all this gibberish about sales and coupons relate to the challenge you ask?  Well, I shop a few different stores to capture only sale items.  So I made this File Folder Organizer to hold my coupons for each store.  I can just slip this down in my purse as I head out the door and go to the store on my lunch break to save some time.  You can find the tutorial here.  (I did alter it a little bit for my use).

I colored Make It Crafty - Zoe Celebrates with copics.   She is such a fun image to color.  Lots of curls and excitement with this one!   I cut the image out with My Favorite Things DieNamics Rounded Banner Stax Dies and used another to nest a background.  The papers are all My Minds Eye - Lost and Found.  I finished the front off with ribbon, clothes pin, button and a banner.

Copics used:
Hair:  E25, E29, E31, E33, E50
Skin:  E000, E00, E11, E13
Pants:  B91, B95, B97, B99
Shirt/Shoes:  R01, R02, R05, R08

This is the back - Coordinated papers from My Minds Eye.

This is the inside of the file folder.  The papers all coordinating.  I also used some Sizzix dies (Library card & File Folder) to create some extra pockets on the inside.  The folders are stamped with Stampers Anonymous images in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I used different sentiments from Sweet November - A Little Bit of Magic to help enforce my goals.  This was just purely a little fun for me.

This is just a picture to show you how it will hold coupons for different stores.

Good Morning Friends -
Welcome to the Loves Rubberstamps weekly Sensational Sunday Blog Hop! The Design Team has created some gorgeous projects for your Inspiration. Check out each link and leave a comment. If you get lost along the way, each stop will have a full list of links. One of the Design Team posts is the hop's Sensational Sunday Sweet Spot and a name will be drawn from that list of comments to be in a monthly drawing for a $20 Loves Rubberstamps Gift Voucher!  We will draw the winner of the Voucher the 1st Sunday of each month! Remember, you have until 8:00 pm CST Saturday to leave your comments!

I have another goodie for you for the reunion today.  My hubby helped me wrap some veggie and soup cans with bandages to make these cute little mummies.  They are all over the internet now and so simple to make.  I used my air brush with copics (E35) to add some extra grunge to the bandages.  I used a circle die to cut a tag and stamped it.  I think the Tiddly Inks expression is perfect for this little guy.  The kiddos will all get one of these mummies filled with candy.

Supplies used:
Copics E35
Stampers Anonymous, Mini Blueprint
Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Wild Honey, Forest Moss, Brushed Corduroy)
Tiddly Inks, Stylish Friends

PTT #124 - Fancy Folds

Good Morning Friends!

It is Tuesday, so another challenge is here for PTT!  This week is all about fancy folds.  So make sure you show us your creations using more than one fold.

I decided not to use my copics on this one.  I wanted to play around with my other love, distress inks!  For my fold, I am using an Upright Z Fold card.  I love the way it turned out.  I used kraft paper for the back of the card and then white card stock for the inked pieces.

I used the MFT round banner die to cut out the top.  I embossed the Tim Holtz Retro Holiday  snowman image and inked around it in blues.  I added some snowflakes in different shades of blue to add some dimension.

I added another Tim Holtz image embossed with blue ink.  Tied some twine and a button on the front.

I used the MFT mix and match round banner with the calendar month stamped on it to hold the top of the card.

I dry embossed the background with clear embossing ink and embossing powder.  I used the Stampendous Christmas background.  After I dry embossed it, I used a variety of brown inks in an embossing resist technique.

The inside sentiment is by Printworks.  I emboss resist some additional snowflakes under the sentiment.

Tim Holtz Distress Inks used:
Clear
Gathered Twigs
Brushed Corduroy
Walnut Stain
Chipped Saphire
Broken China
Faded Jeans

So it is your turn!  Get your score pal out and come share some fun folds with us this week at PTT!

I would like to enter into the following challenges:

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I always enjoy reading the lovely comments you leave behind with your visit!

Loves Rubberstamps Challenge - Bows

Good Morning,

If you are from the states, I hope you had a nice long weekend!  I have a fun challenge for you from Loves Rubberstamps! This week it is all about bows.  Anything with a bow will work (kite, bow tie, bow).  Our sponsor this week is Kenny K.  His images are something so different from what I typically work with, but I always have fun with them.

I have chosen Troublemaker image to work with.  Now, to me, she does not look like much trouble.  She is just chilling with her ice cream.  I colored her with copics on cryogen paper.  I then cut the image out with My Favorite Things Round Banner Die.  I decided that she looked a little funny leaning in mid air, so I used a Tim Holtz mixed media stamp to stamp what looks like a fence behind her foot.  I stamped the image with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I then inked around the edges with Weathered Wood and Broken China distress ink.  The background papers are all by My Minds Eye.

Copics used:
Skin:  E000, E00, E11
Jacket:  BG11, BG72, BG78
Shirt:  R21, R43, RV14
Pants:  E30, E31, E35
Hair:  R21, R43, RV14 (she needed to have fun hair)
Ice Cream:  E31, E35, W0, W1 & stickles

For the tags in the corner, I used My Favorite Things Mix Match Banners Die.  I dry embossed with clear embossing ink and powder using Tim Holtz mixed media stamps.  I stamped the Hugs sentiment by Amy R in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

Now it is your turn.  Come on over to Loves Rubberstamps and play along with us.

Party Time Tuesdays #109 Anything Goes

Hi Friends!

I am back today with another challenge for Party Time Tuesdays!  This week is an easy one - Anything Goes!  So come on over and show us what you are working on.

Since we are doing anything goes, I decided to switch it up a bit.  Again, I did not use my copics,   I made this altered wood wall hanging for my mother in law.  My husband asked me to make it for her, so he agreed to go to Hobby Lobby to help me pick out the wooded and cardboard letters to spell QUILT.  We originally picked out matching style of letters, but decided to get a bit funkier.  So he sat in the floor of Hobby Lobby while I handed him different letter styles.  Then we would arrange them until we decided on a final layout for them.

So once I got them home, I used a variety of items to decorate them.  For the Q (in the very background, I used My Mind's Eye papers and tim holtz distress ink.  I tore the paper and then inked the edges.  I attached the paper in various directions with mod podge.  I love that stuff!  Then I finished the Q with a crocheted doily for the leg of the letter.

I cut out more paper and mod podged it onto the U.  Once it dried, I used various stamps from Stampers Anonymous, XXX set.  I also used some distress embossing powder in a few places.  To finish it off, I tied some twine with a spool of thread on one side and tied some material to the other side.  All edges were inked with distress ink.

I covered the background with some more matching paper.  This paper has a yard stick on it, appropriate for a quilting theme.  I attached some lace to the top and bottom with a sewing machine button.  For the middle, I tied some twine around it and used the twine to hang a little pair of scissors.

I think the L is my favorite letter of all.  I added some paper and then used distress inks to stamp with the same stamp set.  I also used a hounds tooth background stamp on the edges.  I love that stamp, but I haven't come up with many ways to use it just yet.

Since the T could easily be used for a bolt of fabric, I cut some fabric and wrapped it around the long part of the T.  I pinned it with a crystal pin and tucked the ends in.

This was a lot of fun to put together.  I did have to make a few trips to Hobby Lobby since I did not like how a few of the letters turned out originally.  But in the end, I was happy with the result.

Just a reminder of our 1000th follower giveaway!
So to celebrate Party Time Tuesdays is going to be giving away a little blog candy!

{PIN}spirational Challenge # 44

Welcome back to my blog!  I hope you are having a fantastic day!

I have three posts for today, so please be sure to scroll up and see the other two for today.  We have the cutest image of two little giraffes today.  I struggled a bit with this one, but I pulled the love aspect out of it.  What a perfect week for love, since Valentine’s Day is just a few days away.  So the image for {PIN}spirational Challenges this week is very fitting!  Check it out!

Our sponsors this week:

Before I show you my creation, I have to share this fun picture I took at the Brevard County Zoo on vacation.  There were seven giraffes, but this one was very friendly and came right up to the platform so you could feed and pet her.  She was absolutely beautiful.  I never realized how tall they really are until I was that close.  Just gorgeous, huh?

Ok, now onto why you are here, the creation…

I am using the digi image Elmer the Love Struck Elephant generously provided by Floppy Latte.    I could think of so many uses for him, a baby card, love, friendship, you name it.   The image is printed on cryogen paper and colored with copics.  The background papers are by My Mind’s Eye and Inque..  Sticking with my recent obsession to not make regular cards, I made this one a side fold card.   I used a EK Success border punch to to add some girly-ness to the front. For the inside, I used a tag and continued my love theme by stamping a heart from Stamper’s Anonymous, Urban Chic in memento ink. The tag background is inked with spun sugar distress ink.

I have used the following copics:
Elephant:  W1, W3, W5, R00, R02
Hearts:  R81, R83, R85

Ok, now it is your turn.  How does this picture speak to you?  Come on over and show us at {PIN}spirational Challenges!  We would love to see your beautiful creations!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Your kind comments are always appreciated!
Blessings until next time…

Loves Rubberstamps - Sensational Sunday Inspiration

Hello Blogging Friends!

I am back with another Sunday Inspiration post for Loves Rubberstamps.  I am trying really hard to get away from making so many square cards each week.  I feel the need to mix it up.  So today I am sharing with you a Concertina Card with a little added from me.  This fold is actually very easy to do, you can check out the tutorial here

I used kraft cardstock to create the backing.  I followed the tutorial for folding and covered the card base with My Mind’s Eye Lost and Found paper.  I did add an additional backing to the card that was about an inch taller than the card itself.  I left the top open and used a Fiskars scalloped punch on the edges.  I made a tag using Spellbinders Labels 18 die.

The image Tilda with Ribbon Heart Scarf, by Magnolia, is stamped with memento ink on cryogen paper.  I colored her up with my usual copic markers.  I added some extra sparkle to the snowflakes with stickles and perfect pearls.  I cut the image out with Spellbinders Labels 18.  To decorate the rest of the card, I embossed some snowflakes and used some snowflake charms to add some character.  The snowflake charm on the front is hung with white tulle and tied with twine.

Copics used:
Skin:  E000, E00, E11
Hat/Scarf:  RV34, RV81, RV85
Jacket/Boots:  E50, E53, E55
Hair:  E29, E30, E35, E39

I used the same Spellbinders die to cut out a tag to put in between the backings.  I stamped the tag with Printworks Collection sentiment and finished it off with another charm, tulle and ribbon.

Stop on over at Loves Rubberstamps and see all the new goodies that have been put in the store.

Remember... EVERY SUNDAY... you will have the chance to win a gift voucher to the Loves Rubberstamps Store.... just for leaving a comment on the Sensational Sunday post! Winner will be chose with random.org and will be announced on the following Sunday's post!
